Dear Friend/s,
Island Players (IP) is excited to give you a preview of our upcoming events. We invite you to join us.
Last December 2025, IP combined forces with the Washington Island Radio (FM 98.7) for a reading of Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol.” Eighteen Island residents participated from age 8 to 88 years old and 27 Island school children sang the carols. It is still on the Washington Island Radio website (washingtonislandradio.com) if you missed the three airings on the radio before Christmas. We are working on a regular Island radio show called “IP Presents” consisting of short plays, monologues and poetry readings.
On Sunday, February 22 IP will present a production of the play “Love Letters” by AR Gurney. The performance will be at Karly’s Dance Hall at 2:30 with the doors opening at 2 PM.
On Saturday, June 27 IP will sponsor a performance of “Dear Rhoda” by Donna Russell and Dave Ranney. Scenes from the play will be done by The Shakespeare Project of Chicago at The Trueblood Performing Arts Center (TPAC). It is a fundraiser for the continued development of this play for larger and larger venues and audiences. Congratulations Donna and Dave!
We will be offering a Children’s Acting Camp this summer and another popular Mystery Dinner Theatre in the fall.
All of this is fun and a lot of work. Please help us by attending our events, volunteering and sending us your tax-deductible gift and/or membership. Thank you for your past support and involvement. We need you now more than ever to keep theatre alive on the Island.
With gratitude and appreciation,
The Island Players Board: Dave Ranney Acting President; Pat Wright Secretary and Cindra Hokkanen Treasurer Members-at-Large Jim Sorensen, Diana Alar-Hagen, Donna Russell, Meaghan Fiore, Allison Bennett, Letha Heaton and Emmett Woods
